Resident Athletic Trainer
Job Purpose The Department of Athletics at Towson University is currently accepting applications for four contractual Resident Athletic Training positions. Under the direct supervision of the Head Athletic Trainer, Team Physician, and Staff Athletic Trainers the position will assist with medical care and comprehensive athletic training services for student-athletes in Intercollegiate athletics/club sports. Key interactions will be with Staff Athletic Trainers, the Team Physicians, Coaches and student-athletes in the performance of duties.
Description Duties include but are not limited to medical clearance, injury prevention, care of athletic injuries and rehabilitation while working in a performance model with other sports performance professionals. The position is aimed to provide clinical mentoring for individuals who are in the transition from a professional education program to a newly credentialed and independent heath care practitioner. The incumbent will work in a team environment and travel with various athletic teams while working collaboratively with a mentor athletic trainer. Other duties at the discretion of the Head Athletic Trainer and Associate Athletics Director for Sports Medicine and Performance as assigned.
Qualifications Bachelor's degree required and experience in Sports Medicine/Athletic Training preferred. The selected candidate must have BOC certification; be State of Maryland license eligible; be able to evaluate medical condition of student-athletes prior to and during their participation in intercollegiate athletics; and be able to work with diverse cultures and personalities and possess the desire to interact in a team approach with other staff members and professionals.
A Criminal Background Investigation is required for the hired candidate and the results may impact employment.
Salary and Benefits $9.00/hour and a contract that offers annual leave, holidays, sick days. Contractual employees scheduled to work 30 or more hours per week may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage. The position is contingent on funds being available at time of hire.
