| Defiance College, an NCAA D-III institution and member of the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference located in Northwest Ohio, seeks qualified applicants for an anticipated opening for a graduate assistant to the Sports Information Director. The individual will assist with coordination of publicity and media relations and promotion of the College’s 16 intercollegiate sports programs. Primary responsibilities will include layout and design of media guides, game-day programs and game note packets; writing press releases; daily maintenance of www.DefianceAthletics.com; keeping statistics and performing other game day tasks; and other duties as assigned by the Sports Information Director. |
Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree and have strong organizational, writing, and communication skills. Applicants with previous experience in a sports information department and a working knowledge of Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, and Stat Crew will receive top consideration. Applicants must be able to adjust to a flexible work schedule requiring evening and weekend work.
This is a two-year assistantship with an anticipated start date of August 1, 2017. Successful candidates must be accepted into the Defiance College graduate program in Education (MAE) or Business (MBA) and will be awarded a full graduate school tuition scholarship covering a maximum of 36 credit hours. Applicants pursuing a graduate degree in Education must hold a teaching license to be eligible for admission to the Defiance College MAE program. Additionally, a tuition waiver of up to 9 credit hours will be applied toward any pre-requisite courses which may be needed for the MBA program, provided they are taken at Defiance College. Compensation includes salary, College-provided housing, and a meal plan on campus when meals are served to students during the academic year.
