Athletic Compliance Intern (Full-time, 11-month appointment) This position will start July 1, 2017 and run to May 31, 2018.
Internship Description: Middle Tennessee State University is accepting applications for a 11-month (July - May) internship in the Middle Tennessee State University Compliance Office. This position will report to the Assistant Director of Athletics Compliance and Compliance Coordinators. This internship is designed to expose the individual to all aspects of compliance, including recruiting, initial and continuing eligibility, financial aid, extra benefits, awards, housing and playing and practice sessions.
Description of Duties: To support the Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance and Compliance Coordinators in the daily operations of NCAA and conference rule compliance. Responsible for understanding and interpreting NCAA rules and regulations as well as initial and continuing eligibility guidelines. • Assists with the recruiting process, including but not limited to eligibility information via the NCAA Eligibility Center, official and unofficial visits, and recruiting logs; • Assists in the maintenance of all NCAA required forms; • Assists in securing and submission of transfer releases; • Assists in updates to coaches on status of prospective student athletes through the NCAA Eligibility Center. • Assists in providing High School transcript evaluations in regards to initial eligibility; • Updates Athletic Department and compliance policy and procedure manual; • Research and analyze interpretations of NCAA and C-USA rules using the NCAA Division I Manual and NCAA Legislative Services Database (LSDBi); • Create and update compliance-related forms and educational documents; • Writing and distributing a monthly compliance newsletter; • Editing and maintaining information within the compliance database; and • Other duties will be assigned as needed
A bachelor’s degree is required. A master’s degree or law degree and previous experience in intercollegiate athletics is
