| Reporting to the Head Lacrosse Coach, the Assistant Coach assists in developing a Division I competitive Lacrosse program. The primary function of the Assistant Coach will be to teach student-athletes the sport of Lacrosse. He/she evaluates and recruits qualified student-athletes to Temple University; whose athletic skills would allow the program to be highly competitive, and whose academic abilities make such student-athletes excellent candidates for a meaningful academic experience and graduation from Temple University. |
The Assistant Lacrosse Coach supports the Head Coach by providing leadership and integrity to the program set forth by the Head Coach which includes (but is not limited to) creating, planning, organizing, motivating, communicating and controlling aspects relative to recruiting, practices, competitions, student-athletes, assistant coaches and related booster clubs. The Assistant Lacrosse Coach is expected to conduct him or herself in a manner representative of the University, the Department and the sport both on and off the field of competition. Moreover, the Assistant Lacrosse Coach is expected to be knowledgeable about and comply with NCAA regulatory policy governing his or her sport as well as NCAA and conference policies governing recruiting, eligibility, ethical standards, playing seasons, and extra benefits. Evidence of the Assistant Lacrosse Coach's knowledge of rules and policy will be in the Departmental expectation that the Assistant Lacrosse Coach successfully complete the annually administered NCAA Coaches Exam. Duties and responsibilities of the Assistant Lacrosse Coach include, but are not limited to:
-The execution of team practices, consistent with the outline of the Head Lacrosse Coach.
-Attendance and participation at Departmental and Compliance Meetings as scheduled.
-Coordinates team travel logistics and itinerary with Departmental personnel as necessary, as assigned by the Head Coach.
-Represents the University in compliance with NCAA policy in the recruitment of student-athletes, as assigned by the Head Coach.
-Represents the University in compliance with NCAA policy and consistent Departmental resources in the recommendation of athletic scholarships to prospective student-athletes through the Head Coach.
-May coordinate aspects related to: (as assigned by the Head Coach).
-Development and allocation of budget.
-Fundraising towards the achievement of program goals.
-Scheduling of opponents.
-Facility and equipment (also in collaboration with the appropriate equipment manager).
-Recommendation of purchases of equipment.
-Athletic training for maintenance and rehabilitation.
-Strength and conditioning training (in collaboration with assigned strength coach).
-Any and all other responsibilities assigned by the Head Coach consistent with the Mission of the Department.
