The Department of Athletics at West Virginia State University seeks to hire an Athletic Trainer. The Athletic Trainer, under the direction of the Head Athletic Trainer, assists in the implementation of the Athletic Training Program, which provides prevention care, evaluation, and treatment of athletic injuries, coordination of medical and health care, and the scheduling of trainer coverage. Additionally, this position is responsible for record keeping and documentation of athlete treatment history and insurance, as well as other duties assigned.
Duties and Responsibilities: - Will serve as the primary Athletic Trainer for Football - Assist with providing medical service to other specific sports teams as assigned/as needed - Documentation of injury records and reporting, maintaining FERPA and HIPPA requirements - Articulate with the team physician and other allied health-care professionals - Articulate with administrators, coaches, parents, and student-athletes within appropriate medical/legal requirements - Organize and participate in pre-participation physical examinations - Supervise student athletic trainer volunteers/interns - Perform duties as assigned and commensurate with the normal activities related to athletic training service
Bachelor degree from an Accredited Athletic Training Program, Master’s preferred but not required. Applicant must be NATA Certified and in good standing with the NATA.
