Grade 15 $55,105.65 - $70,336.95/year
The District shall contribute up to $26,656.56 per fiscal year toward employee and dependent(s) medical/dental coverage; contribute $1,500 per fiscal year toward dependent(s) or employee medical/dental coverage or other approved deductions consistent with IRS regulations; provide life insurance of a minimum of $50,000 or a maximum not to exceed the annual salary of the employee. Holidays, sick days, and vacation are earned in accordance with the CSEA contract. Payroll deductions include the California Public Employees' Retirement System and Social Security.

Under general direction, assists team physicians in the emergency treatment of athletes' injuries; performs prescribed physical therapy; administers first aid; assists in accident prevention by proper taping and strapping of athletes and by inspecting equipment; directs processing of medical insurance forms; assumes and performs related duties and responsibilities as required.
Accompanies teams on trips and attends home games to provide first aid or assist in treatment for injuries; carries out team physicians' orders in administering light, heat, and other physical therapy treatments; operates related therapy equipment; tapes athletes before a game as needed; sends injured athletes to physician as necessary; assists in administering health screenings; drives school vehicles to competitions; transports injured athletes to doctors or to hospital; inspects athletic equipment and facilities for hazards; prepares injury and treatment reports; maintains records on all athletic injuries; maintains treatment room and equipment in clean and sanitary condition.
This position reports to the Dean of Kinesiology. It directs part-time student trainers.
Any combination of training and/or experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in physical education, exercise science, or related discipline and certification by the National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA). Thorough knowledge of principles and methods of physical therapy, including the use of heat, cold, exercise, massage, water, light, electricity and sound in treating disabilities under prescription; knowledge of physical fitness training, exercise and diets required for various college sports; knowledge of first-aid methods including artificial respiration and bandaging; knowledge of heat and diathermy treatment methods; knowledge of injury symptoms. Ability to administer all forms of physical therapy and first aid; follow professional and administrative directions and instructions explicitly; communicate effectively and work cooperatively with coaches, athletes, and others. Skills: first aid and CPR skills, operation of physical therapy equipment; application of taping and strapping techniques. License or certification: NATA certification; certification in first aid; certification in CPR; a valid California Motor Vehicle operator's license with a driving record that meets minimum standards established by the district's insurance carrier.
