| The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Women's Basketball Head Coach. The purpose is to recruit student-athletes, coach, promote and manage all phases of a Division I intercollegiate women's basketball program in compliance with all NCAA, Conference USA, and institutional rules and regulations. Must have a strong commitment to the academic goals of the university and to the academic success of the student-athlete. Responsibilities include organizing and managing all phases of a Division I women's basketball program but not limited to practice oversight, student-athlete development, recruiting, team travel, game scheduling, scouting of opponents, budget management, public speaking, community involvement and summer camp instruction. Appoints, supervises and evaluates staff members including assistant coaches. Successful candidate is expected to facilitate a positive environment for players and coaches. |
Oversees strength and conditioning activities, academic and medical issues. Responsible for all areas of team performance including preseason and postseason training, practice and competition. Works closely with support staff to ensure peak performance of the athletes while ensuring their utmost physical health and safety. Develops and monitors the academic progress of students through graduation rates and APR scores. Conduct the women's basketball program in accordance with all NCAA rules, including attendance at compliance meetings, appropriate record keeping of recruiting and playing/practice seasons, monitoring eligibility of student-athletes in the program, successfully completing the annual NCAA certification test, and assisting in the education of student-athletes about NCAA rules. Actively promotes the women's basketball program on campus and in the community and fundraises as necessary.
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education required. Minimum five years of experience in coaching highly competitive women's basketball required. Review of applications will begin immediately until the position is filled.
