Minimum Salary: $69,813.80 annually
Maximum Salary: $120,844.64 annually (maximum entry $73,348.12 annually)

Bakersfield College is seeking dedicated, experienced, and motivated individuals to provide leadership, engagement, and discipline expertise in continuing to move the program forward in innovative ways. As a full time faculty member at Bakersfield College, successful candidates will demonstrate commitment to student success through teaching and learning excellence.
The successful candidate will be expected to provide instruction and the development of the Intercollegiate women's softball program including but not limited to teaching a full range of softball skills, physical education and kinesiology, and health education. This assignment requires a full range of coaching responsibilities including but not limited to travel and competition at games/tournaments that are scheduled in the evening and/or weekends.
This assignment may include teaching courses at various locations, different times, and with different modalities.
Bakersfield College offers college courses in the greater Bakersfield area, rural communities, correctional facilities and high schools using the following modalities: traditional, face-to-face, online and interactive broadcasts.
Other duties include: participation in student recruitment and articulation, transfer programs; maintaining subject matter currency; developing and revising curriculum; using computer and technology; assessment of program learning outcomes; collegial participation in departmental, college and discipline-specific professional activities, and supporting the academic achievement of student athletes.
Education and Experience: Associate of Art degree or higher with minimum 4 years paid coaching experience plus a current CPR/First Aid certification.
Master’s degree in health science, health education, biology, nursing, physical education, kinesiology, exercise science, dietetics, or nutrition OR bachelor’s degree in any of the above AND master’s degree in public health, or any biological science OR the equivalent
And in addition the following is also required
Master’s in physical education, or education with an emphasis in physical education, kinesiology, physiology of exercise, or adaptive physical education, or exercise science;
Bachelor’s in any of the above AND Master’s in any life science, dance, physiology, health education, recreation administration, or physical therapy;
The equivalent. Certain combinations of education, experience, and other accomplishments in the field may be judged as equal to the stated minimum qualifications for these positions. A sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
Equivalence by Professional Experience
Bachelor’s degree in any subject with a minimum of 2 years intercollegiate athletic competition experience plus a current CPR/First Aid certification;
Equivalence by Eminence
Amateur or professional athletic experiences that demonstrate eminence in the field of athletics or physical education plus a current CPR/First Aid certification

Ability to maintain subject matter currency

Knowledge of computers and willingness to adopt new technologies that support student success
Knowledge of and commitment to the California community college mission
Ability to follow college procedures, Board Policies, and current guidelines governing college sports, i.e. CCCAA, WSC, NCAA & NAIA
Successful experience as a head or assistant softball coach at the college, university, or high school level
Expertise in physical education/fitness, recreation, health education/wellness, nutrition or related fields and a specialization in coaching
Demonstrated experience in effective recruitment practices
Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain a successful community college softball program
Demonstrated ability to facilitate recruitment and articulation of the softball program with local high schools
Ability to provide leadership in program and college initiatives
Ability and willingness to participate effectively in college committee work and in co-curricular and extra-curricular activities that support students and the college
