Job Function The Assistant Football Coach/Defensive Coordinator reports to the Head Football Coach. The primary tasks are to assist the head coach in organizing, recruiting and providing leadership to the defensive players and coaches. This position will also be responsible to fulfill a secondary administrative duty.
Specific Responsibilities Identify and recruit quality student-athletes for the football program Develop and implement organized practices and game strategies for the defensive team Coordinate fundraising opportunities as determined by head coach Monitor and track academic progress of student-athletes on defensive team Adhere to all NCAA and conference rules and bylaws Fulfill a secondary administrative duty as assigned Develop positive rapport with athletics staff, as well as SU community Represent the university to various constituents in a professional manner Perform other duties as assigned
Equipment and Software Used PC, Windows platform, HUDL, Front Rush Telephone Equipment specific to the sport
Physical Demand Must have the energy and enthusiasm and mobility to actively coach field sports.
Contact with Others Daily contact with students, staff and faculty. Frequent contact with prospective students and parents. Occasional contact with coaches from other colleges and with university administrative staff.
Education and Experience Minimum Bachelors Degree, Masters Degree preferred. Minimum of 3-5 years of football coaching (defensive) and recruiting experience, preferably at the college level. NSCA certification desired. Evidence of positive attitude and the ability to get along well with others required. Excellent speaking and writing skills necessary, as well as the ability to be a well-organized self-starter.
