| Colorado College is seeking applications and nominations for the position of Head Athletic Trainer to serve its varsity athletics program. This is a full-time 12 month staff position reporting directly to the Director of Athletics and serving as a member of the Athletics Department Senior Staff. |
Colorado College sponsors a multidivisional athletic department with Division I offerings in men’s hockey and women’s soccer while also sponsoring 15 Division III sports. Each year approximately 300 students represent CC in varsity athletics competition. The college maintains membership in the National Collegiate Hockey Conference (hockey), the Mountain West Conference (women’s soccer), and the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.
The Head Athletic Trainer will oversee a staff of four full-time ATCs, two GAs, and an insurance coordinator. Athletic Training facilities include the beautiful new 4,500 sq/ft athletic training room in the Red Hay Athletic Performance Suite, a satellite facility at Broadmoor World Arena (hockey), and two smaller rooms located at outdoor playing venues. The college supports the athletic training program with a significant budget to cover travel, professional development, equipment, student workers, and program upgrades.
This position will be responsible for the direct oversight of the evaluation and treatment of injuries and illnesses sustained by varsity athletic participants, will maintain accurate medical and administrative records, oversee the use and distribution of budget money, schedule and oversee the workloads for all direct reports, manage the team physician program, and ensure compliance with HIPPA and FERPA regulations among other responsibilities.
Candidates must possess at minimum a master’s degree and 10 years of professional experience. Candidates must also possess current, valid, NATA, First Aid, CPR, and AED certifications. Preferred qualifications include experience as a Head Trainer at an NCAA institution, experience with Division I programs, and an appreciation for the educational experience at liberal arts colleges. All candidates should possess strong leadership and organizational skills.
