| Primary responsibility is the management and oversight of the day-to-day operations and keeping the Head Coach appraised of significant events for the University of Oregon men’s and women’s track and field programs. Communicate, implement and enforce team policy and standards to student-athletes, assistant coaches and other athletic department employees. Responsible for carrying out major assignments for program’s recruiting, team travel, camps and student-athlete experience. Provide consultation to head coach on issues of travel, student-athlete recruiting, eligibility, academic progress and life-skills. Investigate and resolve matters of significance for program involving NCAA compliance, student-athlete academic concerns, team travel logistics and camps. Interacts with university and department personnel on behalf of 85+ student-athletes regarding compliance, facilities, equipment, academics, tutoring, and community outreach. Responsible for promoting the philosophy and objectives of the intercollegiate athletics program, including adherence to all department policies and procedures, as well as the rules and regulations of the university, Pac-12 conference and the NCAA. In performing these duties, the Director works under very little supervision and therefor is required to customarily and regularly exercise independent judgment and discretion with respect to matters of significance. |
Management and oversight of day-to-day operations: • Coordinate all team, staff and recruit travel, including scheduling team travel to away contests for 85+ student athletes and staff members. This could be for multiple meets at multiple destinations. Depended upon to make on-the-spot decisions regarding travel for such variables as transportation delays or cancellations, student-athlete injuries or other unforeseen events. • Depending on the time of year, oversee, hire and fire up to 30 student employees. • Communicate, implement and enforce team policy and standards to student-athletes, assistant coaches and other athletic department employees. • Assist with coordination of weekly staff meetings. • Responsible for knowing, interpreting and executing NCAA and PAC 12 rules and regulations as stipulated by the NCAA. • Develop a comprehensive approach to recruiting that will leverage social media and other UO assets. • Responsible for compliance with the rules and regulations of the NCAA during the recruiting process. Errors in these situations may result in loss of eligibility and scholarship sanction. • Responsible for negotiating hotel accommodations and securing group transportation within budget. • Determine schedules and itineraries for trips • Serve as recruiting coordinator for entire program, identifying key recruits and providing coaches with necessary statistics, video, etc. • Coordination of recruit official visits (travel, itineraries, hotels, etc.). • Depended upon to make on-the-spot, independent decisions regarding travel for recruit’s travel issues such as transportation delays or cancellations • Assists with initial eligibility and the admissions process to ensure that application materials are completed correctly and in a timely manner for each student athlete. Will advocate for student-athlete in unique situations regarding admissions. • Assists with academic monitoring throughout the student-athletes career and works in conjunction with staff at Jaqua Center to track graduation and academic eligibility. Errors in these situations may result in loss of eligibility and expulsion from university as a student. • Primary contact with Athletic Department’s life skills and student-athlete development staff ensuring the student-athlete is successful during and after his/her academic career. • Coordinate equipment orders/requests. • Other duties as assigned by the Head Coach. • Serve as the Assistant Meet Director for all University of Oregon regular season track and field/cross country events, including the promotion of those events.
Camp Director • Serve as the Camp Director for any camps/clinics held throughout the year. • Manage registration, staffing, marketing and recruitment for camp.
