Belhaven University, a Christ-centered university located in Jackson, MS, is seeking applications for the role of Head Coach for the Men’s and Women’s Track and Field programs. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to further develop a successful, competitive collegiate track and field program now in its fourth year of competition. Also of note is the current construction of the University’s first track and field facility, being built on campus adjacent to the new Belhaven Bowl Stadium. Belhaven is an NCAA Division III institution sponsoring seventeen sports programs, and holding conference membership in the American Southwest Conference (ASC). Belhaven University is also a member of the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) and the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities (CCCU).
The Head Men’s and Women’s Track and Field Coach reports to the Vice President and Director of Athletics and is responsible for planning and administering all aspects of the Men’s and Women’s Track and Field program, including: Recruiting and retaining qualified student-athletes; coaching the team during scheduled practices and competitions; demonstrating competitive accomplishment; providing spiritual leadership and direction for team members; maintaining responsibility for expense control with all program expenditures; mentoring student-athletes in their academic performance to assure timely progress toward degree completion and graduation; directing the program within NCAA, ASC and NCCAA rules and regulations; developing a schedule for competition and team community service activities.
Demonstrated success in coaching collegiate track and field and a Bachelor’s degree. Effective verbal and written communication skills; sound interpersonal skills in dealing with student-athletes, university personnel and members of the off-campus community; ability to operate a collegiate track and field program within budget parameters.
