About the Position The Director of Compliance provides NCAA rules compliance support to administration, coaches and student-athletes. The Director of Compliance focuses on NCAA initial eligibility and SJSU admissions, monitoring recruiting and playing seasons, rules, and education efforts.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following:
-Research and prepare NCAA educational materials, presentations and quizzes for staff and coaches. -Update and revise Compliance Office policy, manuals and forms in accordance with NCAA rules changes. -Create and maintain interactive compliance website. -Research case precedent for waiver support, rules interpretation and violation reports. -Oversee the monitoring of playing/practice seasons, competition schedules and records of athletically related activities, with ultimate approval of such records. -Oversee the monitoring of student-athlete awards and benefits, including complimentary admissions, occasional meals and employment. -Oversee the monitoring of off-campus recruiting activities, phone logs, official and unofficial visits and coach involvement in local sports clubs, with ultimate approval of such records. -Assist in creating and maintaining accurate academic and competitive eligibility rosters. -Perform NCAA initial-eligibility transcript evaluations and monitor prospect educational progress and amateur certification in the NCAA eligibility Center for all sponsored sports. -Perform SJSU admissions evaluations of incoming freshman student-athletes. -Lead contact in processing SJSU special admissions student-athletes -Athletics liaison for SJSU Admissions Office.
