Requires a Bachelors Degree from a four-year college or university in Parks and Recreation Management, Sport Management or closely related field.
Minimum of 7 years supervisory experience in the area of parks and recreation administration preferably serving an agency that serves a population of 100,000+ residents, budget development, management including personnel and operations.
Candidates who have agency accreditation (CAPRA) experience would be a plus.

The successful candidate must be a mature and highly capable individual and must demonstrate superb skills in team leadership and motivation. She/He must have excellent communication (both verbal and written), customer service, organization, and project management skills. The position requires a smart, dynamic, resourceful, reliable, highly motivated, self-starter who is pro-active, able to develop new protocols and procedures, and respond to unexpected challenges, oftentimes with limited outside guidance. The successful candidate will, at all times, maintain a keen awareness of the professional environment and work to ensure that all staff are afforded the opportunity to work in a positive workplace where they are treated in a fair, respectful, and supportive manner by their colleagues and management. In order to succeed, the Assistant Director is expected to fully engage with the community and staff as well as assume a personal sense of ownership and pride in the Authority's operations.
