TITLE: Director of Girls Coaching (Oakwood Sports Center, 40 Oakwood Drive, Glastonbury, CT 06033)
DUTIES: Supervise Girls’ Soccer program at Oakwood Soccer Club. Oakwood Soccer is for high level male and female soccer players who play for or would like to play for national teams such as U13 or U20 or Division I colleges and universities. Altogether, Oakwood has 500 club members divided between male and female teams on the Girls’ side.
The position would supervise coaches, referees, and other staff engaged in the girls’ soccer program. This position would require coaching up to four teams, overseeing all girl teams; set up programs for coaches in various areas such as ACL prevention, strength and conditioning, motivation and performance, nutritional guidelines, etc. The position would evaluate and critique coaches, game video analysis, plan and schedule training sessions, and games, advise Club of potential issues or needs, make membership suggestions, safety recommendations, provide individual support or counseling when necessary, conduct assessments or surveys to determine interests in or satisfaction with events, programs or services. Represents club as NPL league rep at meetings with other clubs. Makes recommendations to National Training Center, or to various colleges or universities interested in offering athletic scholarships to Club members.
Note regarding supervisory duties: supervises approximately 10 coaches and assigns 125 referees. The number of employees to be supervised is subject to change.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: Will travel to all away National Premier Leagues (NPL) matches in Greater Boston, Epping NH, and State of Ct; National Showcase Tournaments in Dallas, TX, Raleigh, NC, and Washington, DC. Occasionally international trips to Barcelona, Spain.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENT: Master’s Degree in Exercise Science or equivalent.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must have at least five (5) years of coaching experience for female soccer teams, which must include implementation of anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury prevention strategy for girls’ training. Must have played soccer at D1 or National or International Level. Must have background, courses, or experience in strength and conditioning, developing strength and conditioning programs, the psychology of motivation and performance, as well as nutrition.
