The University of Saint Joseph seeks a dynamic, experienced Head Women’s Lacrosse and Field Hockey Coach. The Head Coach provides leadership for the students and student/athletes who participate on varsity sports and physical education at University of Saint Joseph. The position calls for the person to generate enthusiasm for the sport and teach team and a sportsmanship approach to students. In addition, this person will teach a course in the Physical Education program.
RESPONSIBILITIES (include but are not limited to): • In charge of all phases of the lacrosse and field hockey programs including: recruiting, retention, technical and tactical development of the team, on and off season conditioning programs and training, scouting, supervising assistant coaches and managers, maintaining budgets and fundraising. • Develop interesting, challenging and fun curriculums in 1-2 Physical Education courses taught per semester in addition to, managing attendance, grading and advisement. • Ensure compliance with all College, NCAA Division III and GNAC policies.
QUALIFICATIONS: • Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s Degree preferred. • 5 years coaching experience as Head or Assistant Coach at the College and/or High School Level. • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. • Able to function independently while operating effectively within a team environment. • Possess solid general computer skills, including ability to work in a Windows environment. • Excellent oral and written skills and ability to communicate comfortably with students, colleagues, and external constituents. • Demonstrated ability to handle complex and multiple tasks in a professional and efficient manner. • Cultural competency to work with diverse student and/or employee population. • Exhibits a high level of professionalism, leadership, creative problem solving, diplomacy, negotiation and sales skills, and the ability to manage complex projects with minimal supervision. • Professional, courteous demeanor and appearance; ability to engage positively and work professionally with students, faculty, staff and administration and represent the University professionally to the public. • Physical ability to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.
