Director of Athletics 3
Penn State Brandywine, located in Media, PA, seeks a Director of Athletics. The Director of Athletics administers the overall athletic program at Penn State Brandywine. This full-time position is responsible for the recruitment and retention of qualified student athletes with the goal of producing Penn State graduates. Reporting to the Director of Student Affairs and directly supervising the Assistant Director of Athletics, Sports Information Coordinator, Athletic Trainer, and coaching staff to serve the needs of over 170 student athletes competing on thirteen intercollegiate and a small number of club sports teams.
Duties include but are limited to: managing and administering the Athletics budgets, managing business relationships and processes, hiring and evaluating supervised staff members, complying with Title IX, NCAA Division III, the Penn State University Athletic Conference, United State Collegiate Athletic Association, and institutional rules and regulations, managing the publicity, advertising and fundraising of all teams, act as resident adviser to campus for all athletic matters including Title IX compliance, serve as the campus advocate for student athletes, purchase of equipment and services required to support intercollegiate, club and intramural sports as well as the fitness center and maintenance, supervise the development of and maintenance of safety programs for intercollegiate sports to include training services, management of the administrative functions required to maintain intercollegiate athletic teams: rosters; eligibility; medical issues; risk management issues; training; testing; travel; scheduling, rental space and contracts, manage the planning, preparation, and execution for all home sporting events and serve on University and PSUAC Committees.

Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus five years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Preference will be given to candidates with experience at the NCAA Division III level and those with a demonstrated affiliation, experience and active engagement with professional organizations appropriate to the institution and position along with an understanding of the dynamics and trends in intercollegiate athletics in general and NCAA Division III in particular.
Prior intercollegiate athletic leadership experience including supervision of coaching and professional staff is also preferred. Sports and Athletic Administration or related field with at least five years of professional Higher Education Athletic Administration. The proven ability to work with a diverse faculty, staff and student population. Demonstrated excellence in oral, written, and interpersonal communications is required. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends. Exceptional collaborative leadership skills to work with multiple departments throughout the college to ensure the success of student athletes are essential. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with an excellent possibility of re-funding. http://www.brandywine.psu.edu
