Required Qualifications (Evidenced by attached resume):
Bachelor's Degree. Minimum of two years combined experience in a compliance setting, in a collegiate setting, conference office, legal profession, and/or NCAA office. Basic understanding of NCAA Division I eligibility and recruiting rules. Must have, keep and maintain the appropriate valid NYS Driver's License; have a motor vehicle record which is free from major violations or a pattern of repeat violations. Applicants must submit their operator's license number at some time during the hiring process for a motor vehicle check. (***Out-of-State Applicants, see "Special Notes.").
Master's Degree. Other advanced degree. Three or more years of experience in a full time NCAA Compliance role at the NCAA, Conference Office or institution. Experience, familiarity and understanding of NCAA Compliance Assistance software. Experience using ARMS Software. Experience in a Division I institution. Experience in a higher education setting. Experience working with Admissions and/or Financial Aid Office staff.
Brief Description of Duties:
The Coordinator of Eligibility and Recruiting will directly assist the Assistant Director of Athletics for Compliance in the operations of the compliance office. In his/her position as the Compliance Coordinator, he/she will participate in the reviewing, monitoring and reporting of student-athlete eligibility as well as oversee the monitoring of all recruiting activities. Additionally, he/she will provide interpretations, updates on NCAA legislation and rules education to the various athletic department constituencies. The selected candidate will have strong analytical skills and organizational skills. They will also have excellent written and communication skills.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
Monitoring Recruiting Activities:
• Monitor the recruitment activities of all head and assistant coaches via the appropriate recruiting software. Collect and audit required paperwork for official visits both prior to and following the conclusion of such trips. Act as liaison with Financial Aid, the Registrar's Office and the Admissions Office on any issues affecting the recruitment of student-athletes.
• Review, monitor, and certify student-athlete eligibility on a continual basis. Provide timely information regarding initial, transfer, and continuing eligibility to coaches, academic advisors and appropriate administrative staff to avoid potential NCAA violations. Eligibility responsibilities will include preliminary transfer credit evaluations and initial eligibility reviews as well as responsibility for coordinating the certification of eligibility process.
Department Administrative Responsibilities:
• Provide interpretations, updates on NCAA legislation, and rules education to the various athletic department constituencies. Conduct ongoing rules education meetings with coaching staffs, administrative staff and boosters to provide the best defense against inadvertent violations of rules. Educational responsibility will also include creation and distribution of a compliance newsletter.
• Support the Associate Director of Athletics for Compliance when investigating potential infractions, coordinating eligibility waivers, and appeals to the appropriate conference and/or NCAA office.
• Additional compliance duties may be assigned and may include providing assistance with issues involving amateurism program, APR, etc.
• Other duties or projects as assigned as appropriate to rank and departmental mission.
This is a full time appointment. FLSA Nonexempt position, eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA.
