Reporting directly to the Senior Associate Athletic Director for Development, this position is responsible for achieving fundraising goals for assigned Major Gift efforts on behalf of Oregon State University Athletics through efficient and effective leadership and management of athletics development Major Gift Officers and by managing an assigned major gift donor portfolio of their own. This position assists the Senior Associate AD for Development on a range of issues, special projects, and daily fundraising activities focused on increasing productivity of major gift officers in Athletics Development in Corvallis and Portland.
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline and seven years of development work experience in higher education, or a related work experience with emphasis on Major Gift fundraising experience, preferably in Athletics. Sufficient supervisory experience to demonstrate competence in this area. Must possess a valid driver’s license. Education and experience equivalencies will be considered.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Comprehensive knowledge of:
The Major Gift fundraising process as it relates to college athletics organizations
Identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of donors
Proven skill in:
Successful experience in major gift fundraising or significant sales success
Effective use of donor databases and information
Demonstrated ability to:
Identify and cultivate prospects and develop solicitation strategies consistent with University goals, including the ability to include Athletic Department leadership, coaches, University President in developing and carrying out these strategies
Organize and mobilize volunteers to ensure meaningful engagement with the university and their efforts assist in achieving athletics’ overall annual fundraising goals. Motivate and organize the efforts and productivity of assigned staff and volunteer leaders
Demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills
Work as a self-starter and self-motivator and to work independently and collaboratively with multiple individuals involved in the development process
Constructively integrate as a member of the OSU Foundation team
Apply sound judgement and conduct oneself with integrity
Behave in a manner that ensures the confidentiality of the information and data used in the line of work
Commit to and model vision, mission and values of the Oregon State University Athletic Department and of the Oregon State University Foundation
Regularly travel with overnight stays, at times extensively, using various modes of transportation
Employer will assist with relocation costs.
