Salem International University is seeking to hire an Assistant Athletic Trainer. The institution is a small NCAA Division II institution in Salem, WV with just over 200 athletes and 17 sports.

Job Description Position Summary: The Assistant Athletic Trainer is responsible for assisting the Head Athletic Trainer in coordinating all aspects of athletic training to maintain a representative NCAA Division II that supports student recruitment and enhances the educational experience, as well as the personal growth of the student-athletes. The Assistant Athletic Trainer will assist the Head Athletic Trainer in coordinating all athletic training services, insurance documentation, coverage of games and practices, and all other aspects based on strict adherence to the University’s Department of Intercollegiate Athletics Policies and Procedures. The Assistant Athletic Trainer is responsible for conducting all activities in accordance with all state and federal regulations, accreditation standards, the University’s policies and procedures, conference and NCAA regulations consistent with the highest ethical standards.
Organizational Relationships: Reports to Head Athletic Trainer and Director of Athletics. Interacts with: external and internal constituents (potential student-athletes, parents, educators, vendors, and campus/ University colleagues.
Provide and conduct athletic training services to all student-athletes in a positive and caring manner.
Provide rehabilitation and proper training programs to assist student-athlete wellbeing.
Assist in collecting and reporting insurance information to students in an appropriate manner.
Assist in providing coverage for intercollegiate games and practices for every sport.
Assist in development of pre-season and off-season conditioning programs.
Participate in appropriate Department of Intercollegiate Athletics Activities: (i.e. staff meetings, training sessions, orientation programs, cultural and social activities, and create availability for any representational and public relations activities) .
Consistently update and maintain equipment in athletic training facilities.
Assist in the correspondence with, contact development with, and cooperation with local healthcare providers, team physicians, and surgeons.
Assist in the coordination of medical-related transportation of athletes.
Conduct all activities in accordance with all state and federal regulations, accreditation standards, the University’s policies and procedures, conference and NCAA regulations consistent with the highest ethical standards.
