Under the general supervision of the Associate Athletics Director of Internal Operations, the Athletics Travel Coordinator is responsible for coordinating Athletics' travel and mileage for all athletic teams, coaches and staff, including recruiting, professional development and travel involving prospective student athletes. The incumbent maintains open requests for approval of travel, monitors requests and travel claims, and notifies athletic travelers of any outstanding travel requests or claims; reviews and evaluates all travel approvals and cash advance requests in a timely manner; receives and audits all travel expense claims with attached documentation for validity, accuracy and compliance within the CSU rules and regulations; processes requisitions for ground transportation for team travel; reconciles the declining balance card for all team travel; prepares and updates the Athletics Travel Procedures Manual and conducts travel workshops for staff. The incumbent issues and maintains petty cash; orders office supplies for all coaches and staff; serves as a primary backup to the Athletics Business Manager; operates within the scope and intent of National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), Conference and University regulations; and performs other duties as assigned.
Equivalent to three years of fulltime, progressively responsible financial recordkeeping experience which has provided the knowledge and abilities listed OR any equivalent combination of college education in a job related field and experience that provides the required knowledge and abilities. Bachelor's degree preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: Thorough knowledge of financial record keeping methods, procedures, and practices; arithmetic and general office procedures. General knowledge of governmental financial recordkeeping methods. Ability and specialized skills to review financial documents for accuracy, completeness, validity, and adherence to standards; compute and post figures rapidly and accurately; use a 10key adding machine by touch; maintain files and records; identify, trace, and correct errors; follow directions; interpret and apply written rules and regulations; apply accounting procedures and practices to the analysis of complex accounting problems; analyze and interpret accounting data; prepare clear and accurate financial statements and reports; work independently; make sound decisions and recommendations regarding activities; establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; and operate standard office equipment and software including: Microsoft Suite (Word, Outlook, and Excel); proficiency in Excel is strongly preferred.
