The Head Coach – Softball is responsible for planning and directing the recruitment, conditioning, training and performance of student athletes, along with fiscal program management. The Head Coach is required to abide by the rules and regulations established by the University, the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) and the NCAA Division I Program.
Knowledge of instructional strategies, techniques and study skills. Knowledge and understanding of UVU, WAC and NCAA rules and regulations. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of team organization, motivation and strategic decision-making skills.
Skill in teaching fundamental softball techniques and methods, and in motivating athletes to perform at a high level. Skill in interpersonal relationships and how to communicate effectively. Skill in budget preparation, education and record keeping. Skill in planning and organizing competitions and travel schedules.
Ability to recruit, coach and scout student-athletes to perform at an intercollegiate level. Ability to design strategies of game plans and coordinate game and practice schedules. Ability to instruct, manage, motivate and evaluate student course work and classroom performance. Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment as needed.
