| Responsible for all aspects of directing the men’s lacrosse program, including: |
Designing and implementing a strategy to recruit qualified student-athletes.
Designing practice plans and conducting practice sessions. Preparing strategies for competition.
Providing support for the academic progress of student-athletes.
Developing and maintaining effective interactions with students and faculty/staff.
Comply with all NCAA, Sunshine State Conference and ERAU rules and regulations.
Provide leadership in community service events for the program.
Fulfill additional administrative duties as assigned.
1.Actively recruit qualified student-athletes who have an interest in one of the University's academic programs.
2.Provide fundamental and advanced instruction of men’s lacrosse techniques and philosophy to student-athletes.
3.Administer all facets of the men’s lacrosse program, including:
a.Complete all administrative responsibilities in a timely manner.
b.On-site management of practices and games.
c. Supervise all assistant coaches and student workers.
d.Schedule all athletic contests.
e.Arrange for transportation, housing and meals for trips.
f.Responsible for the purchase and care of uniforms and equipment.
g.Secure officials and game management personnel (if needed) for home games/matches.
h.Develop, implement and manage team budget according to University and Athletic Department policies.
i.Secure both practice and game facilities.
j.Ensure that all team members adhere to ERAU, Sunshine State Conference and NCAA guidelines with regard to academic and athletic eligibility.
k.Collaborate with the Sports Information Office to maintain accurate statistics and records.
l.Work with the team physician, Sports Medicine staff and University Health Services to promote the health and safety of team members.
m.Monitor the academic progress of all team members.
n.Responsible for organization and administration of any men’s lacrosse tournament hosted by Embry-Riddle.
o.Represent ERAU and the men’s lacrosse program at Sunshine State Conference, NCAA and other related meetings and events.
p.Perform assigned administrative duties with regard to University, Sunshine State Conference and NCAA requirements.
4.Promote the men’s lacrosse program and pursue opportunities to fundraise resources outside of the University budget. Develop relationships within the University to promote the men’s lacrosse program and the student-athlete concept; develop relationships within the community to promote the men’s lacrosse program; develop and execute fundraising activities in conjunction with the overall athletic program, with prior approval of the Director of Athletics (or designee); conduct activities (workshops, summer camps, clinics, etc.) to promote the men’s lacrosse program; work with the Sports Information staff to develop media guides, including advertising sales, and generating ideas for media feature stories.
5.Mentor student-athletes with regard to life skills and preparation for life after their sport.
6.Actively support and promote the NCAA’s Life in the Balance strategic positioning platform, embracing the six ideals of learning, balance, resourcefulness, sportsmanship, passion and service.
7.The violation of NCAA and Sunshine State Conference rules is prohibited and may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment.
8.Pursue professional development opportunities (conventions, clinics, etc.).
9.Other duties as assigned.
