| The University of Michigan-Dearborn (UM-Dearborn) seeks a highly motivated and driven Assistant Athletics Director of Compliance and Operations. The Assistant Athletics Director of Compliance and Operations reports to the Assistant Director of Athletics and Recreation and plays a major role in supporting and growing enrollment as well as retention of both varsity student-athletes and club sport participants. This position will work directly with the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and school officials to certify all initial, continuing, and transfer eligibility. |
• Oversee athletics compliance to ensure the University’s continued compliance with the NAIA and conference rules and regulations. • Assist in the collection and verification for distribution of all departmental statistical data and reports. • Monitor student athlete’s satisfactory academic progress under the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) and NAIA rules and certify their eligibility for intercollegiate athletics practice and competition in accordance with NAIA guidelines. • Assist the Academic and Life Skills Coordinator in monitoring the student athlete’s declaration of major and progress each semester. • Serve as the chair of the Athletics Compliance Committee working with the Offices of Admissions and Orientation, Financial Aid, and the University’s Registrar. • Oversee club sport programs including but not limited to eligibility, travel, budgeting, scheduling and meetings. • Meet with club sport coaches to ensure their knowledge of the Club Sports Manual. • Manage student-athlete contact notifications, releases, and transfer meetings. • Provide coaches and staff with rules interpretation and education as needed. • Monitor playing and practice season declaration and weekly practice reports for WHAC/NAIA compliance. • Investigate and report violations of NAIA guidelines to appropriate entities. File appeals and waiver requests as necessary. • Handle all eligibility matters and administer all NAIA forms. • Coordinate a comprehensive program that includes monitoring of in-house system of compliance checks and balances. • Attend and participate in staff and coaches’ meetings. • Collaborate with Academic and Life Skills Coordinator on academic awards at the WHAC, ACHA, and NAIA level. • Assist with game administration for home contests. • Coordinate facility scheduling and maintenance. • Coordinate special events including the student-athlete orientation, department golf outing, and other special events. • Annually review and update the student-athlete handbook. • Assist with sports administration duties as assigned. • Perform other duties as assigned.
