Position description: The athletic communications graduate fellow will play an important role in helping to promote Merrimack’s 24 varsity sports through a variety of platforms, including the athletic department website, social media, webcasts and graphic design. At the discretion of the communications staff, the graduate fellow will serve as the primary contact for certain teams and work directly with those programs to promote them. The fellowship program comes with a scholarship of $10,000 for a 32-credit, one-year Master’s degree in either Exercise and Sport Science, or Health and Wellness Management. For more information, please visit http://www.merrimack.edu/academics/graduate/health-sciences/fellowships/ Position responsibilities: •Assist in maintaining and publishing content to MerrimackAthletics.com •Regularly update social media platforms to provide coverage for assigned teams throughout the year •Learn and utilize StatCrew, the official stat-keeping software of the NCAA, for various sports •Organize and identify student-athlete photos •Retain and update student-athlete player profiles and stats and team record books •Operate Photoshop and/or InDesign to create game day graphics for social media platforms •Develop game day programs for various on-campus home athletics events •Write previews, recaps and other stories for assigned sports on a deadline
Highly motivated with positive and proactive work approach
Detail-oriented and organized with excellent communication and organizational skills
Familiarity with social media platforms, trends, etc.
Desktop publishing experience, preferably Adobe CS (InDesign/Photoshop) and Microsoft Office
Ability to multi-task and work within a team environment, especially on game days
Demonstrates a positive and personable demeanor
Ability to work individually, or as part of a group while maintaining what's best for the team
