Position Summary and Responsibilities Vassar College invites applications for the position of Head Strength & Conditioning Coach. This is a benefit-eligible, ten-month position. The individual will report to the Associate Athletics Director for Compliance and Student-Athlete Welfare. Weekend, holiday, early morning and/or late evening hours are required
Job Summary: The successful candidate will work with the head coach of all twenty-three (23) varsity intercollegiate teams and four (4) varsity club programs to develop, coordinate, and/or implement strength and conditioning programs for a highly competitive NCAA Division III Department of Athletics. Duties will include but are not limited to:
Supervision of the varsity weight room to include training, scheduling and management of student-workers and volunteer coaches
Development and oversight of varsity weight room budget to include maintenance of strength training equipment
Coordinate with Sports Medicine Staff for the rehabilitation of injuries
Development and scheduling of strength and conditioning orientations and workouts with all head coaches and the individual student-athletes of each team during the traditional and non-traditional segments of each season.
Development of summer workout and conditioning programs for each program in conjunction with the sport coaching staff
Upkeep and maintenance of records on the strength program of each team and specific individual workouts of each student-athlete
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications Required: Bachelor's degree; strength and conditioning certification from a nationally recognized certification program. Certification in CPR, AED and First Aid is mandatory and can be obtained through Vassar College as needed. A valid driver's license, official academic transcript(s) and the successful result of a background check are also mandatory.
Preferred: Master's degree in related field; minimum of 3-5 years coaching experience at the collegiate level; demonstrated ability to relate to student-athletes committed to academic and athletic excellence. National Strength and Conditioning Association's Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) or Strength & Conditioning Coach Certified (SCCC). The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal, organizational, and written/oral communication skills as well as demonstrated success as a strength and conditioning coach at the collegiate level.
