The Assistant Coach assists the Head Coach in day to day operations of the Mines soccer program, specifically in skills training, competitive coaching and recruiting. Coaching staff at Mines are also responsible for physical activity class instruction.
Teach fundamentals and sportsmanship
Prepare and manage competitions and team functions
Monitor academic performance and overall well being of student athletes
Attend all men's soccer contests and as many other Mines athletics events as possible
Recruit prospective student athletes
Facilitate team travel arrangements and maintain logs and compliance forms
Purchase equipment and supplies
Attend coaches meetings and clinics for professional growth and take part in in-service trainings
Perform other duties as required and assigned by the head coach or the Director of Athletics, including fundraising
A bachelor’s degree and experience coaching soccer at the high school age or collegiate level is required. Must have experience in the care and prevention of athletic injuries. Also required are current CPR/AED and First Aid Certifications. Must have a valid driver's license and clean driving record so as to be eligible to drive university vehicles and obtain CDL licensing. Also required are excellent organization, leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills, as well as computer literacy. Strong conflict resolution and customer service skills along with good judgment and decision-making ability are also necessary. This position requires a willingness to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends.
NCAA collegiate playing experience
Experience recruiting and coaching at an institution with high academic requirements
Experience recruiting student athletes in the state of Colorado
Involvement with collegiate summer soccer camps
