The Head Field Hockey Coach handles recruitment and retention, supervision, and coaching of the NCAA Division I field hockey student-athletes, under the guidelines of the BIG EAST and the NCAA; and carries out duties within the stated philosophy of Georgetown athletics and its educational mission, and adheres to all institutional, BIG EAST and NCAA regulations to ensure the University’s compliance.
Reporting to the Director of Athletics, the Head Field Hockey Coach has additional responsibilities that include but are not limited to: Makes the decisions required for successful achievement of department goals and objectives, and is held accountable for the development of team policy and goals. Oversees and leads all practices and competitions, such as game preparation, practice planning, individual skills and video sessions, scouting, scheduling, weight training, and fitness programs. Evaluates prospective student-athletes, and analyzes and determines their abilities and whether or not they may succeed athletically and academically at Georgetown. Monitors student-athlete academic performance and conduct, and identifies and addresses student-athlete welfare issues with the Academic Coordinator for Student-Athletes and the Senior Associate Athletics Director for Internal Operations. Represents the University in donor/alumni public relations and community programs. Works with the Associate Athletics Director for Business and Finance to develop an annual budget for the women’s hockey program. Manages the hockey program within budgetary guidelines set forth by the Athletics Department.
Bachelor’s degree, though Master’s preferred
3 years of experience related to duties and responsibilities specified, preferably at college or university at the NCAA Division I level, or equivalent combination of education and experience
