A major emphasis for the candidate is to recruit players who fit the mission of Judson University. Develop a successful program, including a positive won/loss record. Maintain a professional and active relationship with staff and faculty, administration, alumni, and the trustees. Plan, organize, and direct practices within the NAIA guidelines, and the University’s policies. Enforce discipline measures that are in line with the school judicial code, and that fosters team cohesion and unity. Manage their budget with integrity and keep within the allotted monies available. Communicate regularly and consistently with the Athletic Director, the Assistant Athletic Directors and the Director of Athletic Marketing and Promotions. Attend all appropriate NCCAA and CCAC coaches meetings. Responsible for scheduling within the NAIA limits and the approval of the Athletic Director and the Athletic Coordinating Committee. All relationships and communicated behavior must be in line with the mission of the University and the standards set forth in the application. Other factors include sound administrative ability with emphasis in organization, strong desire to work with and relate to student-athletes, effective communication skills, both written and verbal, and a positive focus and encouragement style of leadership.
Bachelor’s degree is required. A degree in sports management, physical education, or a similar field is preferred. Previous experience as a college coach is expected and playing experience at the college level is very helpful. A winning tradition will be considered beneficial and eventually a requirement for satisfactory job performance. Effective leadership skills and motivational abilities with successful mentoring experiences are mandatory and a high priority for the position.
