The object of the Compliance Coordinator position is to provide rule interpretation, compile and/or complete forms and reports for the NCAA, maintain squad lists, student files, compliance files and provide rules education and updates for the Athletics Department staff and student athletes. This position will report to the Associate Athletics Director – Compliance. Responsibilities:
Learn, follow and reinforce NCAA, Mountain West Conference and Utah State University Department of Athletics rules, policies and procedures; Stay current with the constant changes of NCAA rules and maintain growing knowledge of rules Responsible for official visit, camps/clinics, complimentary admissions, and transfer release processing and monitoring Direct responsibility for all bylaw 15 compliance and act as financial aid liaison with Financial Aid Office, Scholarship Office, and Business Services Assist student-athletes and coaches with account, housing, and dining issues, and assist Business Services to ensure that student-athlete financial aid posts correctly to accounts in accordance with NCAA rules Athletics liaison with Housing Office Assist with reviewing all student-athlete fall compliance forms to ensure compliance and completeness Provide rule interpretations to coaches, student-athletes and staff Assist with education of coaches, staff and student-athletes Responsible to view issues proactively to prevent violations before they occur Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community Be available some evenings and weekends for monitoring duties and to provide rule interpretations to coaches/staff Other duties as assigned by the Associate Athletics Director - Compliance
Post graduate degree required (may substitute 2 years of full-time compliance experience)
Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to perform accurate detail-oriented work and communicate effectively with a diverse population (e.g., coaches, student-athletes, staff, boosters, parents)
Ability for analytical and critical thinking, and to make wise decisions in a fast paced and stressful environment
Master's or law degree preferred
1 year of full-time experience working in an athletics compliance office
Experience working with athletics financial aid
Working knowledge of roster management and recruiting compliance software (ARMS, JumpForward, etc.)
