Belhaven University, a Christ-centered university located in Jackson, MS, is receiving applications for the position of Head Men’s Golf Coach & Director of Game Day Operations. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop a successful, competitive NCAA Division III collegiate men’s golf program, and give leadership and direction to Game Day Operations for the Athletics Department. Belhaven is an NCAA Division III institution sponsoring seventeen sports programs and holding conference membership in the American Southwest Conference (ASC). Belhaven University is also a member of the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) and the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities (CCCU).
The Head Men’s Golf Coach & Director of Game Day Operations reports directly to the Vice President and Director of Athletics and is responsible for the leadership and administration of all aspects of the two programs, including: Recruiting and retaining talented, good-fit student-athletes; providing biblical spiritual leadership and direction for student-athletes and staff; mentoring student-athletes in their academic performance to assure timely progress toward degree completion and graduation; coaching the team during scheduled practices and competitions; demonstrating increasing competitive accomplishment; providing administrative leadership for Game Day Operations (GDO) in areas including visiting team/officials relations, concessions, security, venue management and in-game promotional activities; supervision of a Graduate Assistant for GDO; maintaining responsibility for expense control with all program expenditures; directing the programs within NCAA, ASC and NCCAA rules and regulations; developing a schedule for competition and team community service activities; cultivating relationships with campus faculty and staff and external relationships with men’s golf alumni and friends of the program, as well as other duties assigned by supervisor.
Demonstrated success in coaching golf, preferably at the collegiate level, as well as a Bachelor’s degree. Desire and ability to effectively lead two areas of responsibility; Effective verbal and written communication skills; sound interpersonal skills in dealing with student-athletes, university personnel and members of the off-campus community; ability to operate a collegiate golf program within budget parameters.
