Augustana College, an NCAA Division III institution that competes in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW), is seeking a full-time Head Men's Cross Country and Track Coach. The Head Coach is responsible for all phases of the program including meet and practice planning, mentoring of men’s cross country and track staff, recruitment and development of student-athletes, ordering equipment, scheduling contests, budget management, viable fund-raising, public relations and other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics. Additionally, there will be an expectation of teaching two or three Physical Education activity courses during the academic year.
Bachelor’s degree required, master’s degree preferred. The qualified candidate should have a minimum of five years experience coaching competitive men’s cross country and track, preferably at the collegiate level. Previous head coaching experience at the NCAA Division III level is preferred. Additionally, a thorough understanding of and accountability to NCAA and CCIW rules and regulations is necessary. This will be a 10-month appointment. Candidates must demonstrate a commitment to the academic and athletic success of the student-athlete in a small, private liberal arts setting. Augustana has embarked on a strategic plan designed to fully integrate the campus community and embraces learning that occurs outside of the classroom environment. The Department of Athletics plays an important role in the strategic plan, and the Head Men’s Cross Country and Track Coach will be expected to be fully engaged in this process.
