The Graduate Assistant (G.A.) for Tennis will be responsible for assisting the head coach in the following areas: supervision and logistics of tennis program, managing the program’s budget, recruiting, on-court coaching, running practice, and campus visits.
Essential Job Functions:
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Proficiency and competency in computer applications (Microsoft Office, Excel, etc.).
Ability to coordinate different tasks simultaneously.
Move about the campus freely (including all facilities).
Must possess a valid driver’s license, have a good driving record, and have the ability to drive vans.
Must be able to work irregular hours when required.
Assist the head coach in supervising the student-athletes on away trips.
Assist the head coach in on-court coaching during both home and away matches.
Assist the head coach in managing the budget for both programs.
Assist the head coach in the recruitment of potential student-athletes.
Be familiar with and adhere to departmental policies and procedures as well as NAIA and AAC regulations.
Participate in the college and departmental planning process by assisting in the formulation of goals, objectives, and outcomes.
Participate in college activities, which include Discovery Days, Welcome Week (orientation), chapel and convocation, etc.
Hold student athletes accountable for their conduct, both on and off duty, in support of Athletic Department policies, and the Student Handbook.
Assist the head coach when traveling to a competition (includes driving a van, etc.).
Actively participate with all athletic department fund raising programs.
Attend all team dinners, devotionals, etc.
Perform any additional responsibilities assigned by the Head Tennis Coach and the Athletic Director.
Additional Salary Information: The Graduate Assistant – Tennis Coach will receive a tuition waiver for the Masters of Science in Management and Leadership (MSML) degree at Montreat College (for a maximum of 24 months) and a monthly stipend; this waiver does not include books, technology fees, online fees or the graduation fee.
