Position Title: Full-Time Certified Athletic Trainer Type of Position: Full Time, tenure track Non-classroom faculty
Job Summary: The certified athletic trainer is responsible to assist the Coordinator of Athletic Training Services with the organization, maintenance, supervision and administration of the athletic training program for intercollegiate student-athletes. The nature of work will include the need for work outside the normal academic schedule. This includes but is not limited to early morning, evening, weekend, holiday and breaks between academic sessions.
Specific Job Responsibilities: The Certified Athletic Trainer will be responsible for providing and/or coordinating athletic training coverage to the (20) intercollegiate varsity sports team(s) as assigned. Coverage and services for games, events and practices as required includes but is not limited to per the Athletic Training Coverage of:
Injury Rehabilitation – including providing education and guidance to injured ESU athletes, use of therapeutic exercise/equipment and therapeutic modalities.
Assists the Coordinator of Athletic Training Services with the administration of athletic training services for student athletes.
Provides coverage for all home and select away contests in accordance with Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference policies.
Provides the Head Coaches with regular updates regarding student athlete injuries and rehabilitation progress.
Assists the Coordinator for Athletic Training Services with providing appropriate guidance, instruction, training, supervision and evaluation of graduate assistants and student interns assigned to the department.
Knowledge of/experience with NCAA wrestling weight class certification process.
Oversight and organization of summer sports camps medical coverage.
Performs other duties as they arise or as assigned by the Director of Athletics.
Required Qualifications: A Master’s Degree is required in Athletic Training, Sports Medicine or related field. NATA Certification, PA Certification, CPR/AED and First Aid Certification, minimum of two years’ experience as a certified high school or college level athletic trainer required.
Preferred Qualifications: A thorough knowledge with NCAA, PSAC rules, regulations and policies is preferred.
