Central Virginia United is seeking a full-time Executive Director
Located in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Lynchburg, Virginia and present member of the Skyline League, Central Virginia United Soccer Club is a non-profit organization which serves approximately 600 players. Since its founding over 40 years ago, the Club has grown to include Recreation, Travel, & Adult programs, winter & summer Futsal training sessions, and was a founding member of the annual Blue Ridge Cup. In 2003, we began construction on the Central Virginia Regional Soccer Complex, which some would assert has eight of the best playing fields in the region.
Central Virginia United is presently seeking well-qualified candidates for the position of Executive Director, whose job will be to direct, plan and coordinate all activities of the Central Virginia United Soccer Club. This employee functions with wide latitude under the administrative direction of the Board of Directors of the Central Virginia United Soccer Club.
The Executive Director will report to the CVU Board of Director’s Executive Committee. Must be flexible and able to handle multiple responsibilities. Significant evening and weekend hours are required. Individual needs to be well-organized, passionate about growing the game of soccer and developing players, and engaging the local community. Must be able to develop and grow productive relationships and partnerships, and be forward- thinking. College degree (masters in relevant field preferred) and previously related United States club experience preferred, with a minimum of 5 years in youth club soccer. USSF A License preferred, with experience in leading coaching education. Will consider USSF B License.
The Executive Director will be responsible for establishing and maintaining direction and initiatives for all of CVU’s soccer programming. An initial outline of roles and responsibilities of the position includes the following:
Establish and meet long and short-range objectives for the club
Oversee all CVU full and part-time staff, to include delineation of clear and appropriate roles and expectations of staff members
Manage communication of all soccer-related content with players, coaches, directors, and parents
Develop and execute weekly scheduled staff meetings, seasonal coaches’ meetings, and seasonal parent meetings
Prepare and justify a club budget and control expenditures with guidance from the Club’s finance committee
Direct planning, acquisition, improvement, and maintenance of all properties and facilities under thejurisdiction of the Club with the assistance and guidance of the Club’s facilities committee
Develop and maintain a productive and safe environment for coaches and players, to include assessing and frequently monitoring training and game day equipment
Conduct and oversee fundraising efforts to support Club initiatives with the club’s fundraising committee
Plan and coordinate, with staff, numerous Club-sponsored and managed tournaments during the calendar year
Oversee all marketing, communication, and branding strategies with the Club’s capital campaign committee
Develop a program of public relations, marketing, publicity, and cooperation with County agencies, corporate partners, news organizations, and the community at-large
Update and administer CVU soccer curriculum
Ensure all soccer coaches are in compliance with Club policies and procedures
Organize and supervise all tryouts, selection, and placement of the Club’s travel players
Ensure coaches are executing bi-annual player evaluations
Promote coaching education
Lead CVU’s College Advisement Program (CAP) and work with head coaches to ensure they are maximizing their players’ exposure during the college process
