The Graduate Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach will assist the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach in providing for the health, performance, and safety of student-athletes. This position is designed to prepare the individual to become a full time strength and conditioning coach at the collegiate level.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
•Under the supervision of the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach: develop, design, implement, and administer strength training programs unique to assigned sport(s) and to each individual student-athlete.
•Assist Head Strength Coach in mentorship, supervision, management, and evaluation of interns.
•Assist Head Strength and Conditioning Coach with the scheduling of all team and individual strength & conditioning training sessions in cooperation with head sport coaches. •Develop and establish goals, rules, and expectations for assigned teams and each individual student-athlete.
•Provide nutrition counseling/ assessments for designated student athletes.
•Communicate with athletic training staff to review injury reports and assist with the modification of training protocols during the return to play process.
•Direct appropriate pre-training session and pre-contest movement preparations and warm ups.
•Participate in clinics, lectures and other continuing education activities.
•Monitor appearance, maintenance, and organization of equipment in training facilities.
•Assist in the education and enforcement of weight room rules.
•Carry out all actions with adherence and respect to the philosophy, mission statement, and goals of Concordia St. Paul University, the athletic department, and NCAA.
•Contribute to the overall success of the University's intercollegiate athletics program by performing all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
•Facilitation of PlayerTek GPS along with data collection and organization.
Health Sciences discipline, e.g. Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Movement Science or other related field.
0-2 years relevant experience in strength and conditioning coaching.
CPR, First Aid and AED certification required.
Possess a certification with the Collegiate Strength & Conditioning Coaches Association (SCCC) or National Strength and Conditional Association (CSCS).
Must have a thorough understanding of human anatomy and physiology.
Good relationship management, social, and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency with MS Office Excel software and familiarity with GPS systems.
Must be accepted and enrolled in CSP’s master's program.
Must be able to maintain academic GPA of 3.0
Work may require evening and weekend hours.
Additional Salary Information: This is a 12 month appointment lasting 2 years. Position includes full tuition waiver and stipend.
