Under the direction of the Director of Marketing & Communications, this position will coordinate the extensive ECAC awards program including working with the voting committees, compiling ballots, writing press releases, creating graphics, sending email blasts and maintaining social media accounts as it relates to weekly, postseason and academic awards. The incumbent will serve as the ECAC communications liaison to specific championships as assigned, and will also serve as primary contact for all ECAC leagues.
Duties and Responsibilities:
•Manage the ECAC’s image and visibility and enhance the understanding among the public it serves and constituencies with which it interacts.
•Manage the day-to-day maintenance of the conference website and social media accounts.
•Oversee ECAC’s extensive weekly, postseason and academic awards program, including maintaining a positive working relationship with committee members.
•Oversee ECAC media archives, including images, photos and logos.
•Serve as primary media relations contact and assist with administrative matters for the ECAC’s primary leagues and affiliates, including statistical services.
•Preparation for fall, winter, and spring championship selection and serve as staff liaison for assigned championships.
•Other duties as assigned.
*This position requires travel, evening and weekend hours.
• Bachelor’s degree required in the fields of communications, public relations or sports management. • 2-4 years experience working in a collegiate athletics department or conference office is preferred. • Excellent computer skills including word processing, e-mail, Stat Crew, Adobe Creative Suite (especially InDesign and PhotoShop), o Experience with SIDEARM is a plus • Knowledge of social networking, live stats software, and video streaming. • Ability to work effectively with top management, both internally and externally. • Ability to communicate accurately and effectively, both in writing and orally. • Knowledge of AP Style • Comprehensive knowledge of ECAC structure. • Strong administrative and organizational skills. • Demonstrated leadership • Experience in publications and public/media relations. • Ability to work well with diverse groups of individuals and interest groups.
