Tennessee Wesleyan University invites application for the position of Director of Sports Information. This is a full time, 12 month position within the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics. Responsibilities include: Maintain, review and update the Athletics Department website: Including daily game reports and statistics, and general department sports information (rosters, schedules, biographies, etc.). Maintain, review, and update the Athletics Department social media sites. Produce sports related printed publications, programs, news releases, media guides, schedules and recruiting brochures. Maintain regular and frequent contact with the Athletic Department coaches and administrators regarding sports coverage, schedules, statistics, records and rosters and work as a liaison between the Athletics Department and TWU Media Relations. Coordinate the gathering and dissemination of game day statistics and sports information. Coordinate game day live streaming. Assist Director of Athletics in the supervision of game management. Coordinate and arrange photo sessions for individual, team, and action photos. Research and write sports related materials that are of interest to area newspapers and TWU publications. Track expenditures and recommend future needs related to the Sports Information budget. Create a working relationship with local media, especially in the areas of Athens, Knoxville, and Chattanooga, TN. Assist the Director of Athletics in creating avenues to promote and broadcast TWU Athletics through television, radio, and/or internet resources. Assist with TWU athletic special events, and other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics.
Qualifications include: Bachelor’s Degree with one or two (1-2) years experience in sports information, sports journalism, or sports statistics preferred. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to effectively use sports related computer applications and programs, (such as SID Help and Dakstats) that service and support the Athletic Department. Familiarity with a wide variety of men’s and women’s intercollegiate sports. An understanding and appreciation for the role athletics play in a university committed to academic excellence. Ability to work within the framework of Tennessee Wesleyan University policies, NAIA and AAC regulations, philosophy, and rules. Willingness to work irregular hours including nights and weekends. Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Publisher, Excel, etc.), Photoshop and other related software programs as well as Sports Related Software. Knowledge of all intercollegiate sport rules and applications that are sponsored at TWU. Applicants should be familiar with NAIA rules and regulations.
