The University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) is accepting applications for the position of Assistant Athletic Event Manager. This is a career, full-time position with a targeted salary of $42,991/year with full health benefits and membership in the UC Retirement Plan. Under the supervision of Athletic Event Manager, the Assistant Athletic Event Manager coordinates and or/supports the staging of public events for 23 nationally recognized Intercollegiate Athletic Sports sponsored by the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics. Major functions include production, operations and staff management. The Department of Intercollegiate Athletics competes on a national level in all sports and is committed to quality event presentations. Exposed to quality athletic presentations through the media and by spectators and has a profound effect on the University’s morale, recruitment, sponsorships, donations and income. Athletic event managers successfully coordinate and direct these presentations. Throughout the season, incumbent is assigned operational responsibility for over 50 events (as many as three in concurrent production) with each varying in scope and marketing presentation. Spectator and participant safety and compliance with NCAA, Pac-12 Conference and University rules and regulations are fundamental elements of each event.

All applicants should demonstrate the following abilities and requirements: Working knowledge of NCAA and Pac-12 Conference game management policies and procedures for all sports; Detailed knowledge of rules, customs and traditions for intercollegiate athletic competitions; Work knowledge of the different uses for functional space in arenas and stadiums; Working knowledge of safety codes, emergency procedures and risk management as applied to athletic competitions and public assemblies; Detailed knowledge of house staff job functions at athletic events; Working knowledge of University and Department of Intercollegiate Athletics payroll and personnel policies; Working knowledge of the relationship of event services to athletics competitions; Working knowledge of video board systems; Working knowledge of various computer software (office systems, data base and reports, graphics); Skill in preparing and motivating personnel to efficiently accomplish a desired performance; Ability to recognize and correct deficient event operations in a rapid and organized manner; Ability to write and organize written communication regarding event plans and event operations; Ability to meet short-term and long term deadlines on many concurrent assignments while achieving the desired result in all cases; Ability to train and evaluate staff to perform according to set policy and procedure; Ability to develop work product in a consistent manner with attention to changing details and priorities in an environment full of interruptions; Working knowledge of and ability to comply with NCAA ,Pac-12 Conference, University and Departmental rules and regulations.
