The primary purpose is to assist the Head Coach in student athlete development with all activities relative to the teaching, training, skill development, and conditioning of student athletes, with specific emphasis on skill instruction and development at practices and individual training sessions. Secondary duties are to assist with program administrative support, NAIA compliance, and recruiting.
Specific Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
•Teaching and Coaching skills and experience with the ability to communicate effectively, orally, by phone, in person, and in writing, and the ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with students, faculty, staff and the public, while representing the department and AMU in a friendly, courteous and professional manner.
•General knowledge of collegiate level men’s baseball programs, and the baseball sport, rules, and regulations.
•Knowledge of NAIA governing rules and ability to adhere to all policies, rules and regulations of the NAIA and the University.
•Understanding of the University’s mission and its philosophy regarding student-athletes.
•Knowledge of sports team teaching and management methods.
•Ability to organize work effectively, conceptualize and prioritize objectives and exercise independent judgment based on departmental and organizational policies and procedures.
Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization plus one to three years of coaching/playing experience at the collegiate level.
