Cottey College is seeking a head tennis coach for its inaugural season of competition during the 2018-2019 school year. The 2017-2018 school year will be spent recruiting and organizing the program to begin competition.
Under general direction of the Athletic Director, performs a wide range of activities related to the development and implementation of a competitive tennis program. This includes, but is not limited to, developing a yearly budget for the tennis program, recruiting student-athletes, coaching tennis and other duties as assigned.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1.Developing an effective tennis program 2.Developing a season schedule which is conducive to the academic requirements of the student-athletes 3.Planning daily and weekly practice schedule itineraries 4.Developing a yearly tennis program budget 5.Purchasing equipment, supplies, and coaching materials to enhance the quality of the program 6.Preparing necessary forms for proper cash advances, food requests, and travel authorizations for all road trips 7.Possessing a valid Missouri motor vehicle operator's license (Class E) for driving College vehicles 8.Maintaining the cleanliness of uniforms and tennis gear with the assistance of team managers 9.Overseeing the eligibility and certification requirements for student-athletes 10.Recruiting quality student-athletes in conjunction with the Office of Enrollment Management 11.Maintaining stats on the NJCAA website 12.Interacting positively with the campus and College community as well as the community of Nevada, Missouri 13.Pursuing this job in accordance with the mission and goals of the College and within the rules and regulations established by the NJCAA
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Candidates must demonstrate knowledge of principles and practices of women's sports as they apply to a college setting. This includes the areas of supervision, communication, time management, public relations, program planning, budget development, facility and equipment management, office procedures, and business operating systems.
Skills requirements include effective written and verbal communication to a diverse range of audiences and settings. This would include the proper handling of emotional situations, financial aptitude, and the ability to work well with internal and external constituents.
Maintain possession of a valid Missouri motor vehicle operator's license (Class E) to drive college vehicles and the willingness to use personal vehicle in the event that a college vehicle is not available.
CREDENTIALS AND EXPERIENCE
Possession of a bachelor's degree, master’s preferred.
Coaching experience preferred.
A commitment to education of women at a single-sex institution, and the advancement of women in a collegiate sports program.
Additional Salary Information: Part-time hall director position possible.
