Coach the distance events – 800 meters and up, 1500, 3K Steeplechase, 5K, 10k, Distance Medley and cross country; Design, Organize and supervise all distance/ cross country practices and meets; Meet Director for home cross country meet, Recruit quality student-athletes in the distance events; Commit to and monitor student-athlete academic progress; Participate in community fund-raising efforts and public relations. Responsible for assisting the Head coach in all aspects of the track & field program. Conduct off-campus evaluations of prospective student-athletes in accordance to NCAA rules. Handle On-line Meet Entry for Home Meets, Cross Country & Track Away Competitions. Assist with Meet management for all home competitions.
Bachelor’s degree required, master’s degree preferred. Collegiate long distance running and coaching experience preferred. USATF and/or USTFCCCA Coaching Education certification preferred. Coaches are responsible for adhering to the policies, procedures and regulations of the University of South Alabama, the Sun Belt Conference and the NCAA.
