Work as part of the Sports Nutrition staff to educate and counsel student-athletes and coaches on sports nutrition, health and wellness, body composition, and supplements. Manage fueling stations and oversee undergraduate volunteers. Keep abreast of the latest research in nutritional and food sciences.
50% - Essential - Nutrition Advisement: Assist sports nutritionist by: assessing and counseling student athletes on optimal nutrition practices for training, practice, competition, recovery from training, recovery from injury and/or illness, weight management, hydration, and supplementation. Assists in prevention and management of disordered eating practices. Provides team-specific recommendations according to training cycle. Develops, coordinates and teaches nutrition/cooking/grocery shopping programs for student-athletes. Advises on travel nutrition.
25% - Essential - Resource: Serves as a resource and participates as a member of an interdisciplinary team that includes the Associate Athletic Director for Performance, Sports Nutrition, Sports Medicine, Strength and Conditioning, Sports Psychologist and Academic Support Services to prescribe performance and medically-related diets. Assesses supplementation. Evaluates body composition.
15% - Essential - Student and Intern Oversight: Recruits, oversees, and assigns student volunteers and part-time interns (including preceptor of dietetic interns as appropriate).
10% - Essential - Budget, Service Provider, and Facility Oversight: Works with Sports Nutritionist and institute's food service provider to deliver and monitor Training Table and preseason meals. Assists Sports Nutritionist by overseeing supplementation for Olympic sports weight room. Monitors inventory and oversees budget.
A bachelor's degree in dietetics, foods and nutrition or institutional management.
