The head coach for men's basketball is a full time position dealing with the management of all facets of the men's basketball program to produce an athletically competitive, academically successful and socially responsible team.
This is a 12 month position that will start as soon as the position is filled.
Head coaching responsibilities to include but are not limited to: game and practice coaching; program administration; budget management; involvement in campus, alumni, constituent and community engagement; recruiting; supervision of assistant coach(es); supervision of camps and direct involvement in program-specific fundraising efforts; recommending a schedule of competitions; coordination of team travel; monitoring of academic progress, retention and counseling of student-athletes; creation of an environment where degree obtainment is a priority; and compliance with NCAA and conference rules and regulations. It is expected that the program will be conducted with honesty and sportsmanship at all times within the rules and regulations of the CCAA and the NCAA.
Requires Successful collegiate or professional basketball coaching experience, strong organizational and administrative skills, ability to interact effectively with prospective and enrolled student-athletes, fellow coaches, athletic department team members, and university administration, and the general public and excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Possess the ability to teach, coach and advise students from diverse educational and cultural backgrounds. Minimum Qualifications A Bachelor's degree and a minimum of three years of successful collegiate basketball coaching experience; demonstrated collegiate recruiting experience; strong organizational and administrative skills; ability to interact effectively with prospective and enrolled student-athletes, fellow coaches, athletic department team members, and university administration; demonstrated strong commitment to student-athlete retention and academic achievement; demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with diverse student, faculty, staff and community is essential; must possess or be able to obtain a California Driver’s License Preferred Skills and Knowledge Master's degree; five or more years of successful collegiate head coaching experience; collegiate recruiting experience in California; prior staff supervision experience; demonstrated program level budget management experience and knowledge of Division II NCAA rules and regulations. Additional Salary Information: PLEASE NOTE: The starting salary will be between $7,888.00/month to $8,550.00/month.
