Job Purpose Towson University is accepting applications for a Fan Development Intern. This position will assist in the oversight of all elements of the fan development department including game operations, game presentation, graphic designs, communications and student marketing. Executes approved marketing plans. Assist with marketing, sales and game operation projects and events. Manages hours of intern/volunteer staff. Gathers candidates for various intern/volunteer positions and assist with hiring process. Manages deadlines according to approved timelines. Oversee Doc the Tiger appearances, hiring, and staffing events.
Description The Fan Development Intern will assist Assistant Athletic Director of Fan Development with game operations and presentation for ticketed sports: Football, Volleyball, Men's Basketball, Women's Basketball, Gymnastics, Men's Lacrosse, and Women's Lacrosse with emphasis on managing in volleyball, women's basketball, women's lacrosse. This position will assist with writing game day scripts and timelines for game operations for volleyball, women's basketball, women's lacrosse, soccer, and field hockey. Responsible for working additional events on and off campus to develop fan base. Events may include: Freshmen orientation, LaborStay, 4th of July Parade, MD State Fair, etc. Assists with training intern staff for office duties, in-game promotions and game day set-up. Develops themes, promotions and giveaways for sports teams to enhance game atmosphere. Manages Doc the Tiger; including oversight of scheduling, communication, hiring and training of all mascots. Other duties assigned by Assistant Athletic Director of Fan Development.
Qualifications Bachelor's degree and one year of experience working in a Division I athletic department. Ability to be organized, multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment. Must be willing to work nights, weekends, and holidays. Experience working with Daktronics and Adobe Photoshop preferred.
Except for qualifications established by law, additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work of the job class may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 college credits being equivalent to one year of experience. A Criminal Background Investigation is required for the hired candidate and the results may impact employment.
Salary and Benefits $10 per hour and a contract that offers annual leave, holidays, sick days. Contractual employees scheduled to work 30 or more hours per week may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage. The position is contingent on funds being available at time of hire.
