In collaboration with the Head Softball Coach, the incumbent will provide skill instruction for student athletes, including independent planning and implementation of a season long plan for a set group of athletes. They will participate in aspects of practice instruction and game coaching, and will assist to identify, evaluate and recruit student-athletes that can be successful athletically, academically and socially in a Division I environment. Specific duties include: player development (practice planning and skill instruction, game management, attention to academics and commitment to community service); recruiting and retaining academically and athletically qualified student-athletes; assisting in oversight of administrative responsibilities (scheduling, team travel); and cultivating relationships with alumni and working with Athletics Department staff around fundraising, special events and appearances; and performing other duties as assigned. It is expected that the successful candidate will abide by all written policies and procedures of, the Department of Athletics, UMBC, the America East Conference (AEC), and the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA).
Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
