The Department of Athletics is seeking a Director of Information Technology. This is a full-time (1.00 FTE), 12-month, fixed term professional faculty position. Reappointment is at the discretion of the Athletic Director.

Reporting to the Deputy Athletic Director (AD) for Administration, the Director of Information Technology (IT) has overall responsibility for daily operation of IT in the Department of Athletics, including event support and normal business activities. This position will provide IT leadership to all Athletic departments and teams so that OSU Athletics stands out as a leader in using technology to improve the quality of instruction, productivity, and the ability to recruit new student athletes and staff.
This position will oversee provisioning of technical support, services, and maintenance of information systems for faculty, staff, graduate, and undergraduate students in Athletics and coordinate service delivery with OSU Information services and outside partners (such as PAC-12 networks and multimedia providers). Ensure quality, equitable computing resources are available for all department members. Interact with Athletics faculty, staff, and students on a regular basis to anticipate and address evolving IT needs related to administration and instruction. Assist in strategic planning and policy development projects. This position will work to improve Athletics key business processes while ensuring appropriate Information Security practices are followed.
Bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems (Business), Computer Science or related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
IT experience in a large and diverse business environment supporting a wide range of services including workstations, productivity tools, AV equipment, communications, etc.
Practical knowledge of modern desktop operating systems and computer hardware and peripherals.
Experience and understanding of security systems and industry protocols.
Ability to support both Mac and Windows operating systems.
Ability to establish and document operations procedures.
Excellent leadership skills, interpersonal skills, mature judgment, and diplomacy required to interact effectively with and provide customer service to a broad audience.
Ability to work independently as well as effectively in a collaborative team environment.
Strong ability to manage multiple, competing priorities and projects.
Successfully collaborate with other groups, especially Fan Experience, Marketing, Creative Video, Communications and Sports Programs.
Demonstrate ability to lead and train staff for high performance.
Ability to work flexible hours (weekends/evenings).
This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a Criminal History Check and be determined to be position qualified as per OSU Standard 576-055-0000 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in Youth Programs may have additional Criminal History Checks every 24 months.
Preferred (Special) Qualifications
Experience managing an IT unit.
Experience providing IT support in a large research university or similar environment.
The ability to support specialized computer systems that may require special configurations that are used for in stadium display systems, coach’s video systems, and video editing systems.
The ability to prioritize work based around event schedules.
Experience in an Athletics department or event services industry.
A demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity.
