Executive, Executive - Associate Athletics Director

The Associate Athletics Director-Internal Affairs reports directly to the Director of Athletics and is responsible for oversight and supervision of the departmental compliance and academic services units, while serving as the sport supervisor for assigned sports.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Serve on the athletics department senior staff.
Supervise the Director of Compliance, Director of Athletic Academic Services, select head coaches.
Coordinates tasks and programs for the athletics administrative unit.
In conjunction with the Director of Athletics, Plans, develops, and implements professional development programming for head and assistant coaches. Serve on search committees for coaches, staff and athletic administrators as assigned by the Athletic Director.
Attend and support assigned Athletic Department sponsored events to include athletic contests, fundraisers, University events and faculty-staff functions.
Participate in community service and civic projects as a representative of the University/Athletic Department.
Serve as point person for programs/projects as assigned by the Athletic Director.
Assist in game management responsibilities and supervision as needed and necessary.
Conduct an orientation program that provides information on Athletic Department policies and procedures for new departmental employees.
When appropriate, act as an official representative of the University at Conference and NCAA meetings.
Perform other job related duties as assigned.
Compliance Related Responsibilities:
In conjunction with the Director of Compliance, provides assistance and oversight in the daily operation of an NCAA Division I rules compliance program:
Maintain and apply procedures to ensure that all areas of the Athletics Department demonstrate a commitment to maintaining compliance with NCAA, OVC, Austin Peay State University and State of Tennessee rules and regulations.
Compile and maintain all required Federal, NCAA, and Conference forms and reports.
Coordinate efforts relating to University operating procedures dealing with certification of eligibility and awarding of athletic financial aid.
Coordinate the procedures used in responding to possible rules violations.
Works to identify current trends and new technologies in intercollegiate athletics and develop methods to educate coaches and staff with regards to Compliance and Academic matters (e.g. Autonomy legislation and the impact it may have).
Develops and conducts NCAA rules education for all segments associated with the athletics department, including but not limited to: prospective and current student-athletes, coaches, athletic department staff/units, as well as all institutional personnel who assist with complying with NCAA rules (e.g. financial aid office, eligibility committee, etc.) and all other university personnel and boosters.
Academic Related Responsibilities:
In conjunction with the Director of Athletic Academic Services, provides assistance and oversight in the daily operation on an NCAA Division I athletics academic program and the student-athlete academic progress and welfare.
Assist with the student-athlete advisory committee as necessary.
Coordinates and communicates with the Provost’s office, Associate Provost for Student Success, and University academic advising units to ensure collaboration, effective communication and innovation to ensure the athletics academic advising unit goals are achieved.
Oversees, in conjunction with the SAAC Advisor, student-athlete welfare programming needs as it relates to the overall goal and philosophy of the department of athletics.
Sport Supervision Responsibilities:
Will oversee and supervise assigned sports as directed by the Director of Athletics.
In conjunction with the Director of Athletics, the Associate Athletics Director will be responsible for the supervision of select head coaches, monitors sport budgets (in collaboration with the Director of Athletic Business Operations), approves team travel and expenses, develops and approves competition schedules and assists with recruiting activities as requested.
Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for Sedentary Work, and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for light work.
Required Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree. - 5+ years of progressive athletic administration experience.
