Assistant Athletic Director, Game & Fan Experience The University of Delaware Newark, Delaware
The Assistant AD- Game Presentation and Fan Experience at the University of Delaware is a valued member within the University and Department of Intercollegiate Athletics and Recreation Services (DIARS), upholding and embracing the departmental mission of “Inspiring Greatness Together.”
The Assistant AD is part of the Marketing and Engagement team. The Marketing and Engagement team’s purpose is to connect and inspire the Delaware Athletics community through programming, creative content and event experiences with a focus on a deep understanding of the University of Delaware brand and its traditions.
Under the general direction of the Associate Director of Athletics for Marketing and Engagement, the Assistant AD will assume primary responsibility for all game day production of the Athletic programs and has an emphasis on providing memorable experiences for all audiences in attendance at Delaware Athletics events. The incumbent will develop, implement and oversee plans to create an entertaining atmosphere that encourages spectator participation, loyalty and support, utilizing creative and trend-setting methods to generate excitement before, during and after athletics events.

Serve as senior advisor for game productions for all sports. Manage areas including creative conception, game content development, sponsorship activation and best-in-class game day implementation.
Create and lead meaningful and innovative event experiences for the Delaware community through game presentation and fan experiences.
Provide oversight of programming development, including videoboard content, on-field/court recognitions, halftime shows, sponsor activations, in-game promotions and giveaways, fan contests, and other entertainment elements.
Plan and execute game scripts for assigned sports - including football, men's basketball, and men's and women's lacrosse - which includes communicating the game information and performance cues for Band, Cheer and Dance, Mascots, University Media Services (UMS), PA Announcer, DJ, student game day staff and Audio team.
Book national anthem performers, halftime acts, and serves as point person for special recognitions such as Senior Day and team anniversary reunions.
Collaborate with University Media Services and the Athletics Multimedia Team to ensure videoboard and in-game elements are visually and thematically consistent with departmental and University brand standards.
Create new sponsorship and partner activations, including promotional themes and elements, video features and giveaways, that enhance the fan experience through collaboration with IMG.
Create memorable pre-game fan experiences, including the football Fan Zone and student tailgates that engage the Delaware community.
In partnership with the marketing team, oversee and maintain the marketing budget.
Recruit, hire, train and manage student work force for marketing, i.e., work study, sports management students, and miscellaneous wage students.
Continually improve and enhance the event and game experience and problem-solve through the creation and distribution of audience surveys following designated games and events.
Maintain an ever-evolving understanding of the industry and utilize creative skills to produce an elite game day experience.
Bachelor's degree and four years of experience working in live sports/event production (collegiate or professional sports) or a related field with a proven experience in developing and leading best-in-class productions, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience and working knowledge of run of show development, script writing, and sponsorship activation.
Experience managing a production and game day staff including student volunteers, interns, and hourly workers.
Working knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite (Including but not limited to Photoshop, After Effects, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere, Etc.).
Embody a strong work ethic, have a desire to work in collegiate athletics, and have proven written and oral communication skills -
Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations in regards to game day.
Strong organizational and analytical skills.
Ability to interact with multiple patrons in a positive and productive manner while maintaining integrity and adhering to the compliance rules of the NCAA and University of Delaware Athletic Department.
Ability to exercise sound judgment and effectively determine when information needs to be advanced to other decision makers.
Exceptional ability to work in a networked way, emphasizing collaboration in a complex environment.
Ability to travel is required for this role 2-3 times per year.
Must be able to work weekends, holidays and evenings.
