The Video Production Assistant’s primary responsibility is to market and promote the Department of Athletics and its teams through video. The VPA will develop video content for www.uncgspartans.com, including shooting, editing and producing features, recaps, etc. The VPA will be responsible for all aspects of the video production. The VPA will play an active role in the Spartan Sports Link student group, which teaches and collaborates with UNCG students on video production. The VPA will assist all ESPN3 and Southern Conference Digital Network broadcasts, both with preproduction and in-game duties. The VPA must be able to work numerous projects at one time and work on tight deadlines to get video on the website and social media in a timely manner. Additionally, the VPA will work closely with the marketing department and Spartan Club producing videos that will assist in revenue generation and branding. The VPA must be comfortable interviewing coaches and student-athletes. The VPA will also be charged with continuing the growth of the Spartan Sports Link program on campus, making contacts with various departments on campus and recruiting new students into the program. The VPA will work closely with the Video Production Coordinator and the Video Production Assistant (On-Air) on a day-to-day basis.
A bachelor’s degree is required. At least two years of experience in athletic video production is required and preference will be given to candidates with collegiate sports experience. Understanding of NCAA rules is desired. Demonstrated expertise in written and oral communication skills is a prerequisite. The VPA must be goal and task oriented and possess excellent communication and organizational skills. The VPA must be creative and self-motivated to accomplish tasks. Experience in working with editing programs (i.e. Adobe Premiere Pro or similar program) is a requirement. Experience working with motion graphics is preferred. Experience working on the production side of athletic broadcasts is preferred (Xpression graphics, Ross Switchers, 3-Play, etc.). The job will include extensive evening, weekend and holiday assignments.
This is a 12-month appointment, with an option for renewal. The VPA position will pay $18,000 with an expected start date in early August.

The UNCG Department of Intercollegiate Athletics is administratively housed in the Office of the Chancellor. The University’s 17 teams compete as members of NCAA Division I and the Southern Conference. Approximately 300 students are involved as athletes, managers, trainers, statisticians, cheerleaders, etc.
